My Fallout 4 Experience

I kind of figured I wouldn't get this game until much later, so I decided to spoil it for myself... Oops. Well I was able to play the game today, right before official release. I'll just point out that I've been a bit of a fan of Bethesda since Morrowind. Well, actually those are the only video games I ever play these days. I owe it to them to keep supporting their games! I was so hyped up that it wasn't as exciting as I imagined. Of course, I watched streams before playing and found the game to be almost perfect. It's going to be tough to improve upon this game, I think. Fallout 4 initially didn't have the alt-tab issue Skyrim did, but a later incident proved otherwise. To be more specific. At two separate occasions, the screen resolution changed and the mouse wouldn't highlight options, so I had to resort to using keyboard only. Other than that, I haven't gotten deep enough into the game to properly review it. I've just dipped my toes into what the game offers, such as the power armor, crafting, fighting. The combat is a lot different than in previous installments. Apparently it's inspired by Destiny, which I know a bit about but haven't played it for myself. I'd say this is a big improvement since shooting guns didn't feel satisfying unless you were using a Fat Man or something of the like. Graphics? Not as thoroughly detailed as modded textures in the last two games. That's good though, who needs all those mega textures to load anyways. From far away it gets the job done and looks great. The lighting is as good as it's ever been, probably my favorite part about this game. Power armor is complicated until you get used to it, but it's been done in a way it always should have been done, Power armor is meant to make you stronger but make you a tad bit slower. Bethesda also decided to not make it an armor your can just equip, but climb into. One thing I got annoying with was running out of power. You can still use the armor with the exception of power bashing/sprinting, and VATS if my memory serves me right. I haven't gotten too far into crafting since I'm no good at it, but it seems pretty hard to make what I want. It's probably best I scrap everything and start anew... lol. The armor layering system is fantastic! Brings me back to the good old Morrowind days. That was it for my first few hours playing. I managed to do it all without a single spoiler! Hehe. I can see myself playing this for a while, at the cost of sleep. >.>
